Introduction:

Today's episode of Felony Friday has a little different layout. First, the show today is part one of a two part show. Second, due to the fact that this week's guest is awaiting sentencing for a drug conviction, his lawyer has advised that he does not disclose his full name on the show. For this reason, throughout the show I will refer to my guest by his first name only, Anwar.

Anwar's Story:

Anwar first ventured into entrepreneurship when he was nineteen-years-old and decided to start a DJ business with his brother. His DJ business started modestly out of his parent's basement, but over the next several years he refined his entrepreneurial skills while opening several businesses. His business ventures have included recording studios, cell phone stores, and art galleries.During part one of his story Anwar shares how his father and uncle both influenced him in different ways and set him on a path towards entrepreneurship. This episode lays the ground work for part two, where Anwar will reveal the decisions he made that turned his life upside down and led to a drug conviction.

Coming up Next Week:

During part 2 of this interview Anwar will share the circumstances that ultimately led him to turn to selling drugs to keep his business afloat. Anwar shares how he was able to get a loan, that he never should have qualified for, that he used to purchase a building. He describes how his own inexperience and an aggressive agent from Lehman Brothers' created a perfect storm that led him to take on more debt than he could handle and essentially bankrupted his business. Anwar turned to the drug trade to get out from under the debt load he had accumulated, which ultimately resulted in the FBI knocking on his door.Download this episode (right click and save)Enter Promo Code "liberty" at Checkout for 10% off your order!
