The Morning Roar: Mos Def Banned From US, How You Can Stop the NDAA, and a Big Endorsement for Murray Sabrin!

Welcome to your Thursday edition of The Morning Roar!Rapper Mos Def Banned From the U.S. For Highlighting Gitmo TortureIt appears that outspoken rapper Mos Def's very public activism - which includes making a video in which he is force fed in the same manner by which hunger striking detainees at the U.S. facility in Guantanamo Bay - is costing his fans the chance to see him perform live. Mos Def - whose real name is Yaslin Bey - is currently unable to enter the U.S. due to legal issues, and the site Supajam.com has made the connection with his video on the Guantanamo force-feeding, which any reasonable person would recognize as torture if they would watch. They point out this message from the Together Music Festival's website:

We regret to inform you that due to immigration / legal issues Yasiin Bey is unable to enter back into the United States and his upcoming U.S. tour has been canceled, including May 15th, Together Boston’s show at The Wilbur Theatre.

It's not a slam dunk case, but it's certainly worth noting, as typically tyrannical governments do not like when one of their court jesters points out its crimes. And the torture via force-feeding at Guantanamo Bay - performed upon men who have been neither convicted nor even accused of a crime - is itself a crime by any reasonable measure.View Mos Def's video below. If it's uncomfortable, it's because it is uncomfortable, as torture is known to be.http://youtu.be/z6ACE-BBPRsHow You Can Stop the NDAA In Your CityI'm still catching up on pre-Memorial Days news, and came upon this recent appearance of our good friend Dan Johnson, found of People Against the NDAA on RT's Breaking the Set with Abby Martin. Dan does a great job explaining the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 NDAA, its implications for Americans, and what people can do on the local level to counter it. It's well worth your time.http://youtu.be/QFjUtaHbJUUAnd if that's not enough of Dan Johnson for you, check out Dan's appearance on the Lions of Liberty Podcast! Murray Sabrin Receives Endorsement from the Philadelphia InquirerIn huge news for a grassroots-funded, anti-establishment political campaign,New Jersey Republican candidate for governor and past Lions of Liberty Podcast guest Dr. Murray Sabrin has received the endorsement of the Philadelphia Inquirer. An excerpt from the Inquirer's statement:

Of them, MURRAY SABRIN appears to be Republicans' best choice. The finance professor at Ramapo College is a human library of monetary theory and a paragon of libertarian principals. Having been a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in 2008 and the Libertarian Party nominee for governor in 1997, Sabrin also seems most prepared to carry out a vigorous campaign....Sabrin's compelling personal history should be an asset as he campaigns. Born in Germany just after the war, his parents were the only members of their respective families to survive the Holocaust. They moved to America in 1949. Sabrin says his being a naturalized citizen has served to make his strong feelings about keeping the Constitution intact even stronger. The proponent of free-market principles opposes the Affordable Care Act, supports a smaller government, and wants to strip down taxes and regulations. But Sabrin says those positions wouldn't keep him from crossing the aisle to work with Democrats, especially when it comes to civil liberties.

Having spoken with Dr. Sabrin I can attest that he certainly comes across as a man of principle and carries many views in line with a libertarian agenda, notably concerning foreign policy, the War on Drugs, the Federal Reserve, and civil liberties. I don't get involved in pushing specific political candidates, but Dr. Sabrin to me seems a man worthy of support due to the proven conviction in his beliefs and his strong stance against the War on Drugs and civil liberties in particular. If you haven't already, consider tossing a small donation to Dr. Sabrin, and if you need more convincing, check out my full interview with him from the Lions of Liberty Podcast!Read The Morning Roar every weekday Monday-Friday!The Lions of Liberty are on Twitter, Facebook & Google+Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
